Matria project works to advance the economic development of women in Puerto Rico.


The Matria Project is a community based non-profit tax exempt operates a network of services for women throughout Puerto Rico. The innovative approach transcends Matria mink welfare women as victims, and offers committed to their needs, their full human development, services and development of own and permanent capacity for self-sufficiency and economic independence, to validate his role as core productive resource for economic and social development of Puerto Rico. Our objectives are: Gestar empowerment and self-sustaining human and economic development of women survivors of gender violence or heads of households with very low incomes - Facilitate and germinate incubation and viability of community microenterprises led by women. - Provide and facilitate transitional housing opportunities conducive to their own home to survivors of domestic violence and their children (as) - Developing capacity through training and job placement for women survivors of gender violence or heads of households with very low incomes - provide support services to overcome the obstacles facing women survivors of gender violence or heads of households with very low incomes to achieve economic, occupational and educational mobility (I care for girls, transportation, tuition payments, psychological and other services vital). - Provide microcredit to women with a history of negative development of credit business activities. - To promote public policies and multisectoral partnerships for community economic development and equality of women. The basis for our services is the holistic approach to empowerment, training, emotional stabilization, joint short- and long-term and coordinated access to support services (health, legal, etc.) based women on an analysis of 360 of their particular needs. This is the basic platform for participants to achieve at least one of the following goals: successfully trained in a trade, running a self-employment opportunity, develop a micro, or placed in a viable employment. This process includes workshops emotional empowerment, training in business skills, and leadership development. You are provided with a support system that makes possible economic benefits and reimbursement of expenses in care of girls / boys and transportation while studying, and payment of trainings and study materials.
